Hi, I'm Jeff Selingo, author of the New York Times bestseller, "Who Gets In and Why: A Year Inside College Admissions."
I'm working on a new project about how to find “good” colleges beyond the top of the rankings and what to do when your first-choice colleges don't work out as planned. The tentative title of this next book is "Dream School: The College Admission Playbook for the Rest of Us."
Like the last book, I need your help.
If you're a parent or a college counselor, I'm looking for stories to tell of young adults whose Plan A for college was to follow a certain path, mostly they wanted to go to a certain brand-name college, but then it didn't work out as planned because they didn't get in, they couldn't afford it, or it wasn't the right fit. So they had to turn to Plan B, which in retrospect turned out better than their original plan.
I won’t be quoting from this form nor will I be using last names in the book or personally identifiable information.
I won't be able to connect with everyone who completes this form, but I do appreciate your response and will also be surveying parents and students in the coming months, too.
